A Monday of a different kind

What a day!! Dang! Monday for sure, but not nearly as bad as last Monday, and some actual good news, too!

I was supposed to work 2-10:30PM today. I stayed up a bit late last night just so I wouldn't be up at the crack of dawn, and have to stay up until I got home, but I was up by 7:30. I was going to just lounge around in my PJs, but then decided I may as well take my shower, get dressed and then I would be ready if I wanted to go out and do something before work.

I was just stepping out of the shower when the phone rang. It was the Depot of Home. Call me paranoid, but I was sure they were calling to tell me I was late. I even grabbed my schedule before I picked up the phone. No, I wasn't late. There were too many people scheduled to close, and not enough to open, so did I want to work earlier today??

Of course, I said yes. I went in at 9:30, so I was off at 6. Much better hours!

I had traded to get tomorrow off, because Pete needed the weekend off, and I was supposed to work for him on Saturday. That was ok with me, because working until 10:30 tonight, and then 6 tomorrow morning was kind of a sucky schedule. But then I was off earlier today, so it was nice to think I had tomorrow off. Unfortunately for Pete, he was escorted out of the store by the police today, and will NOT be coming back to work. I don't know (yet) what he did, but my guess is theft. No one is escorted out by the police (and taken off in a squad car) if it's just a minor thing. Dude! HOW DUMB!!!

That is actually a good thing for me, since he was full time, and now there is a full time opening available. AND.. I got sent back to the office this afternoon, for my head cashier position interview. Woot! It was with Norma and another department head, who is a really nice lady, and it was more of a chatting kind of session than anything else.

The thing is, there are two HC openings, and four people applying. I believe I know one of the people who will get one of the spots, which will leave a SECOND full time position open. If I get the HC spot, that would be great. If not, there full time cashier openings available. YES!!!!

So I treated myself on the way home to an IN-N-OUT burger and a shake. It's been a long time since I had fast food.

I will have to get to bed early tonight though, since Pete isn't around to work my 6AM shift tomorrow. I guess I can live with that, plus it means I have a three-day weekend coming up! It will be nice to have three days off in a row and have nothing planned. Three days of rest and relaxation. I'm sure I can think of something to do!! I'm starting my list now......

Good luck, sweetie! Seems dumb you might even need luck, a caring, honest, hard working employee like you should be recognized and promoted without question! If you worked for me you'd be a head cashier already, that's for sure. ~LA

Hope you get one of those jobs...HC would be great....and I also hope you have a great 3 day weekend off....unless you get a full time offer and your schedule is changed. It all sounds really favorable for you. Bet that write-up in the company newsletter won't hurt either!!!
