Sun, surf and sand. And sun.

Stick a fork in us, we are all done. We spent the day at the beach, and despite numerous warnings about spending more time in the shade, the girls are fried to a crisp. The front of my legs are a bit red, but it will go away in a day or so. Heh. I warned them!

But we had an awesome time at the beach. I think I had just as much fun watching the girls play in the water as they had doing the actual playing. Neither of them had been in such big waves before, or such warm water. Lake Michigan is frigid (less than 70 degrees at this time of year, and that's the surface) and doesn't have the waves that the ocean produces. They spent a lot of time in the water!

The beach was pretty empty when we got there this morning about 10:30 or so..

We set up camp, with our umbrella, cooler and chair for me..

And off they went.

They at least covered their faces and heads to keep the sun off..

And as you can see, when we left, about 4, the beach had filled up pretty well.

Tonight is set aside for rest and relaxation, like today was. We didn't actually do that much resting, but it sure was relaxing!! We will also be applying liberal amounts of aloe gel to both girls who neglected to put sunscreen on their legs.... And mine too, but I wasn't in the sun much, so mine isn't all that bad. They will be sore tomorrow!

One of the bloggers I read asked for feathers... anyone who reads me know who it was? I have a few for them....

Awwww, I so miss the ocean waves! It's amazing how tired you can get relaxing in the outdoors and in the sun, eh? Crazy!

I keep aloe vera jel in the fridge all the time. It's feels even better on a burn when it's cold.

Aloe vera is a godsend to sunburns. I'm glad to hear you stocked up - the ladies are definitely going to need it. I suspect they won't really care much, though, until they're headed home. Looks like they're having a ball!

Soy sauce is great for burns from like the stove--I'm not sure about sunburn but it would be worth the try sometime. Sure looks like it was a great time!

I'm glad the girls got to see the Cove the other day, it's my favorite place on the coast! Have you guys planned a visit to Julian and Santa Ysabel to get some Dudley's bread? That makes for a great drive.

Apple cider vinegar also works for sunburns. And then you smell like salad! Oh, and I think it was fling-poo who wanted feathers.

It's been fun catching up on your blogs and seeing all these great pictures. It looks so beautiful. And the book case is awesome...very nice and so cozy. Hope the rest of the time with your daughter and her friend are equally as enjoyable for all of you.
