Losing track of time

I suppose it's just about time to post for the day. I lose all track of time on my days off, and if I don't post now, before I know it, it will be 9PM.

Just like this morning. I started by reading my email... and then Diaryland. And I thought I would just finish that last challenge on Pogo.. Then I thought I would just vacuum the computer room and my bedroom.... and just as I was chatting along peacefully, I realized I had to meet Poolagirl in 45 minutes for lunch, and I had yet to take a shower! Dang! Talk about losing track of time!

Today being a holiday, Balboa Park was mobbed. And all the restaurants were closed. So we had to go off-campus to a downtown restaurant to eat. OH. MY. GOD. This place had awesome food. We both ordered Tom's Deep Plate and could have fed a family of four with the food we got. *urp* I'm still full. It was a Mexican restaurant, and totally delicious. Just amazing. I will have to take Kid there some day for lunch when she comes down.

My project for the afternoon involved doing the dishes. What an exciting life I lead, don't you think? I got my lunch for tomorrow made, and swept the floor. It just doesn't get all that messy with only me here.. although it gets pretty dusty.

Maybe someone can tell me why it takes SIX WEEKS to heal pierced ears! Mine are still a teeny bit tender, since it's only been a bit more than a week, so I know they are not healed. I keep cleaning them with the solution I was given, and twirling the posts and moving them around.. five more weeks of this? I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Two more days of work, then another day off. I wonder what exciting things I can plan for Friday??

Piercings can be evil that way...but maybe you'll get lucky and they'll heal super fast.

Hey, sometimes they take six months or more to heal -- especially the ones up high in the gristly/cartilagey-bits of the ear. I've had my ears pierced (and re-pierced) literally dozens of times over the years (over the ears?) -- currently nine holes in left ear and four in right; most recent piercings about a year ago -- and some of those suckers still choose the most inopportune moments to decide -- ha ha! -- they're not quite healed after all, and to flare up and go all hurty for a day or so, until I give them a good talking-to and drench them with alcohol or witch-hazel. What can I say: ears can be funny things. (Quite good to hear with, though, I believe.) Love, R xxx

Glad you wonderful gals had a wonderful lunch. I didn't know it took 6 weeks for pierced ears to heal!

Well, you have to grow new skin over the wounds you opened with the earring posts! It doesn't happen overnight!! Hopefully you'll be able to slack off with the cleaning soon, though.

I hope you ears heal completely very soon. When I had mine done I took them out a bit too soon and didn't put any back in for a couple of days. When I tried to put some back in I had a hard time getting them to go in. I had to force them through. It hurt so bad I actually passed out for a second or two. It freaked me out. I think I was 11 or 12.

I lose myself when I'm home too. I'll just be puttering around, doing a bit of this and tad of that and suddenly realize that half the day is gone. I find it to be very peaceful. Good luck on your earrings. It's been decades (3) since I had my ears pierced. But for my 40th birthday, I got the cartilage pierced in my right ear. That took forever to heal. It was tender for months. I have never been tempted to do the other one.

Yep, it takes a long time for those little holes to heal and when they are still tender.....owie!!!!! They feel like they are the size of those Ubangi plates the natives wear! Be diligent with the peroxide and keep twirling....it will be more than worth it. Have you started buying cute earrings to wear once you can change the studs out..?

Yeah, piercings can be a pain! I can offer a suggestion though. Go to a piercing/tattoo shop, and ask them for a pack of their piercing cleaners. THEY ARE AMAZING!! You get a pack of these things that look like q-tips, but you have to crack the shaft and release the medicine in them and then put on the piercing. Truly amazing stuff. So much better than peroxide or alcohol or what have you. THE BEST!! I've only been able to find the stuff though at the Tat/Piercing shoppes. GO GET IT~ It's called "Dr. Piercing's Aftercare" and they usually come in a cute purple box.

Yep, takes a while to heal. I got a second piercing in my ears a couple years ago. One healed perfectly, but the other one didn't. I finally gave up and took the earrings out and the one that was in the ear that didn't heal had a little "burr" on the post. So, everytime I twirled the earring, it would literally scratch my ear which is why it wouldn't heal properly. Hopefully, that's not your case and all will go well. Margie

Your ears are taking forever to heal because you had them pierced with a gun (can't undo that) and "surgical stainless steel" - the stuff your fork's made from. it's a clean puncture and should heal in a few weeks

use mild soap - NOT alcohol - to clean them, and find a reputable piercing shop who can change those studs for implant-grade surgical steel, titanium, or niobium. I can find an Association of Professional Piercers-accredited studio if you need. The objective is NOT to sell you something, but to make sure you heal well.

i had my left ear repaired so that the jewelry wouldn't sag at my brother's wedding. - leaving out the gross bits, a scalpel was involved. I used that jewelry and neem oil because of the size of the cut (works great but stinks to high heaven). i saw my rheumatologist in two days and asked her to take a peek; she said that they looked great, barely any swelling around the jewelry at all. In 9 days, when i had the stitches out, the doctor said i healed so well that the doctor said i healed around the stitches. (it only took a few days for those bits to close)i should have had the stitches out in a week, but who knew that s repair that size would heal with the jewelry placed back in, that quickly???
